CPM S35VN– American martensitic high-alloy stainless steel with a hardness of59-61 HRC,one of the best steels for blade production. Designed to provide better strength compared toCPM S30V,while maintaining the highest level of corrosion resistance. Manufactured byUS Crucible IndustriesusingCrucible®ParticleMetallurgy (CPM). TheCPMprocess produces a very homogeneous, high-quality steel with excellent dimensional stability, grindability and toughness compared to steels produced by conventional methods. The chemical composition is balanced to consist of0.5%niobium (Nb) carbides together with3.0%vanadium (V) and14.0%chromium (Cr) carbides. Replacing some of the niobium carbides with vanadium carbides makes the steel about15-20%harderthanS30Vwithout compromising wear resistance, and it is also easier to machine and polish. The improved toughness ofCPM S35VNalso provides better resistance to edge chipping.
Vacuum & Cryogenic-CPM S35VNsteel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process involving two key stages.Vacuum Heat Treatment: the steel is hardened in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the strength and structural integrity of the steel.Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts retained austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes,CPMS35VNsteel ensures exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and extraordinary blade durability.
Blade-Sheepsfoottype,finished with a scratch-concealingBeadblastedmethod, which involves abrasive blasting with fine glass or ceramic beads.The long cutting edge in relation to the Blade’s length converges towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade provides high strength while thehigh, flat grindgives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ceramic ball bearings are responsible for the smooth and smooth operation of the knife’s opening mechanism. The opening in the wedge allows both right and left-handed people to open the knife quickly and effortlessly. On the back of the upper jimping wedge, a notched thumb rest. A small choil makes sharpening easy. The whole is locked with the proven and popular frame lock with a steel inlay to prevent wiping of the lock face.
Handle – is two pieces of solid titanium 6AL4V with a slightly rough texture. Chamfered edges of the covers eliminate sharp edges for comfort and improve grip security. The solid titanium backspacer to which the grips are attached guarantees the rigidity and strength of the entire structure. The simple, solid design gives you the assurance of many years of use. A deep finger undercut (fore finger groove) improves grip confidence. The pivot axis is decorated with a stylized Kubey Knife brand logo. A single-position (right) titanium deep-carry clip allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in tip-up (blade tip up) position. Above the clip a lanyard hole, a hole for threading a safety or decorative cord.
