Colossus SE Orange Aluminium, Stonewashedone of the best OTF (Out The Front) automatic knives. It features the excellent fit and finish you would expect from a top of the range knife. The over-the-top automatic works in D/A (Double Action) mode using the knife’s patent-pending opening mechanism, which works with great force and power. The mechanism uses ball bearings to reduce friction and ensure fast, smooth blade locking. Grip enhancing inserts on both sides of the aluminium Handle provide both style and functionality. CPM MagnaCut – Powdered stainless steel manufactured using the Crucible® Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process hardened to 60.5-62.5 HRC. The high content of vanadium 4.0% (V), molybdenum 2.0% (Mo) and niobium 2.0% (Nb) guarantees accuracy and purity unmatched by more 'conventional’ steels. Designed and developed specifically for blade production by Larrin Thomas, it meets all the requirements of knife enthusiasts. With CPM MagnaCut has succeeded in creating a steel that combines unique properties like no other knife steel. The result is a blade material that offers an extraordinary balance of wear resistance, strength and corrosion resistance. There is currently no other steel on the world market that offers a comparable combination of excellent properties. This unique steel is produced in the US steel mills of Crucible® Industries.
Blade – SE type (Single Edge) with a single cutting edge, finished to mask minor scratches and prevent glare using the Stonewashed method. Plain blade, derived from a high flat grind for excellent cutting properties. Short grain grooves increase the strength of the blade. As a result, the knife has excellent piercing properties while retaining its strength. The mechanism for extending/retracting the blade by means of the mottled Thumb Slide, a stepped thumb slide, requires for safety the application of a specific force to overcome the resistance of the spring. The opening method ensures trouble-free opening for both right- and left-handed people.
Handle – made on CNC milling machines with perfect precision from orange anodised 6061-T6 aluminium and perfectly matching inserts. The material of the inserts resembles sandpaper in texture so that the knife does not slip in the hand during use. The Handle is notched (jimping) for a more secure grip. The slim design allows the knife to be tucked into any pocket. The two-position, reversible (right/left) deep carry clip allows the knife to be carried discreetly in the pocket in the tip-down position (blade tip down). The clip attachment includes a glass striker.
