M390- a martensitic high-performance chromium steel produced using powder metallurgy. Due to the alloy concept, it is characterized by extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance. Thanks to its high wear resistance, it retains its edge shape, keeping the blade sharp for a very long time (requires minimal maintenance). Another advantage is its resistance to “wire” formation during sharpening. Steel with a high chromium content of20.0%(Cr) and an admixture of1.9%carbon (C),4.0%vanadium (V), hardened to59-61 HRC.This super steel is comparable to Carpenter’s CPM 20CV or CTS-204P steels. Vacuum & Cryogenic-M390steel undergoes a specialized heat treatment process involving two key stages.Vacuum Heat Treatment: the steel is hardened in a vacuum environment, which minimizes oxidation and ensures more uniform metal properties. This process increases the strength and structural integrity of the steel.Cryogenic Treatment: After heating, the steel is rapidly cooled to extremely low temperatures, often below -100°C (-148°F). This transformation converts retained austenite into martensite, significantly increasing hardness, wear resistance and overall durability. Thanks to these advanced processes,M390steel ensures exceptional performance, offering both razor-sharp edge retention and extraordinary blade durability.
Blade – Sheepsfoot type, with a wide blade.Finished with a scratch-concealingSandblastedmethod, a process in which fine sand particles are ejected under pressure onto the blade to give a stylish and practical look.The long cutting edge in relation to the Blade’s length converges towards the needle-sharp tip of the knife. The thickness of the blade provides high strength while the high, flat grind gives excellent cutting edge geometry and extreme cutting performance. Ceramic ball bearings are responsible for the smooth and smooth operation of the knife’s opening mechanism. The opening in the wedge allows both right and left-handed people to open the knife quickly and effortlessly. On the back of the upper jimping wedge, a notched thumb rest. A small choil makes sharpening easy. The whole is locked with the proven and popular liner lock.
Handle – is two pieces of composite G10 (fiberglass compressed under pressure with synthetic resin), deeply textured to improve grip confidence, screwed to the steel frame of the knife. Chamfered cover edges eliminate sharp edges for comfort and improve grip confidence. The solid backspacer to which the grips are attached guarantees the rigidity and strength of the entire structure. The simple, solid design gives you the assurance of many years of use. A deep finger undercut (fore finger groove) improves grip confidence. The pivot is decorated with a stylized Kubey Knife brand logo. A two-position (right.left) titanium deep-carry clip allows you to carry the knife discreetly in your pocket in tip-up (blade tip up) position.
